Homemade Ant Killer

Homemade Ant Killer

No one likes ants in the house, but the dangerous and expensive chemical solutions aren't a great bet for most folks either. Rather than spending a fortune on poisons, why not try making your own ant killer?

Borax Solution

Combine boric acid, sugar and water in a spray bottle. Boric acid can be bought as Borax detergent. Keep this spray away from children. This blend will work for a while after it is applied.

Cleanse Them

Ants hate soap, pretty much because it kills them. Mix soap and water in a spray bottle and hit 'em where it hurts. This blend needs to be added every time you see ants.

Orange Peels

Combine citrus peels and water in a spray bottle let sit for 24 hours, then spray away. This is another option that needs to be reapplied.

Ant baits

Create ant bait at home by boiling a cup of sugar and two cups water. When cool, add a tablespoon of boric acid and shake. Put this blend in open containers and place by ant trails or hills. Leave out as long as needed.

Window Cleaner

Spray ammonia-based cleanser, like Windex, on ants and they'll disappear. This needs to be applied periodically.
